Heat Press Instructions
To achieve long-lasting, professional-quality results with MARYLAND DTF transfers, proper heat press settings and technique are essential. Following these heat press instructions will ensure strong adhesion, vibrant colors, and durable prints that hold up through washing and daily wear.
Whether you’re pressing cotton, polyester, or blended fabrics, these steps will help you get consistent, clean results.
What You’ll Need
Before starting, make sure you have:
• A heat press machine (recommended for best results)
• A clean garment or fabric item
• Your DTF transfer
• A protective sheet (parchment paper or Teflon sheet)
Avoid household irons for professional results, as they do not provide consistent pressure.
Recommended Heat Press Settings
These are general guidelines. Slight adjustments may be needed depending on garment type and press model.
Temperature: 300°F – 320°F
Pressure: Medium to firm
Press Time: 10–15 seconds
Always test on a sample garment first.
Step-by-Step Application Process
1) Pre-Press the Garment
Press the blank garment for 3–5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles. This creates a smooth surface for strong adhesion.
2) Position the Transfer
Place the DTF transfer on the garment with the printed side facing up. Make sure it is straight and properly aligned.
3) Press the Design
Cover with a protective sheet and press using the recommended settings for 10–15 seconds with firm, even pressure.
4) Peel the Film
Allow the transfer to cool slightly, then peel the film slowly and smoothly according to the transfer type.
5) Final Press (Recommended)
Cover the design again with a protective sheet and press for an additional 3–5 seconds to seal the print for extra durability.
After Press Care Tips
To maximize the lifespan of your printed garments:
• Wait 24 hours before washing
• Wash inside out in cold water
• Avoid bleach and harsh detergents
• Tumble dry low or air dry
• Do not iron directly on the design
Proper care keeps colors vibrant and prints intact longer.
Common Pressing Issues & Fixes
Design lifting or peeling:
Increase pressure slightly or extend press time by a few seconds.
Edges not sticking:
Ensure garment is fully flat and use firm pressure.
Print looks dull:
Try a quick second press to enhance vibrancy.
